Chef Lea is a life long lover of food, who has traveled extensively and often jokes that she may not always remember the artwork she saw in a museum, but can certainly tell you what she ate in the museum café.  This all-consuming love for discovering new flavors and creating recipes, lead Lea to pursue a culinary arts degree at The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Atlanta.  From there, she spent five years as sous-chef at Taste and Savor Inc., where she honed her healthy cooking techniques in the kitchen of the Chapman Family Cancer Wellness Center at Piedmont Hospital. Chef Thomas Numprasong started his culinary journey as a dishwasher in a bagel shop back in 1994. Throughout high school and college he continued working in restaurants and hotels and quickly found his calling in the bakeshop.

I grew up loving to spend time in the kitchen with my mom and favorite aunt. I learned how to take the fresh vegetables from the garden to the table, and the chicken and pigs from the barn to the supper table, and so much more. I have always known that I come from a long line of great cooks but I just recently discovered that my grandmother several generations back was a professional cook in the 1500’s. Even though I come from a long line of professional and great cooks, nothing could have prepared me for the diagnosis of Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitive.

 

After I was diagnosed with gluten sensitivity, I felt sorry for myself for about a week or so, and then I got busy learning and creating delicious and nutritious gluten free versions of my favorite foods. This evolved into Vedam’s Gluten Free & Fabulous! Recipes From A Southern Gay Househusband, a self published Gluten Free Cookbook. I began to get requests to cook for people, some who were gluten sensitive like me, and many who just saw my recipes online and in the cookbook and wanted delicious home cooking! 

 

I found the USPCA and became a gluten free Certified Personal Chef. Since the start of Chef Vedam LLC, more than 75% of my clients are not gluten free; they are simply lovers of my food. Many have commented that they taste the love with which it was cooked. Not only do I cook for my clients on an ongoing basis, I also love providing cooking classes, date night dinners, and dinner parties.
